Black History Month Movie Screening
Join PSL Atlanta, Black Feminist Future and Artists Against Apartheid for a screening of Soundtrack to a Coup D’Etat, a documentary that details the Western-backed coup that overthrew the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s first independent government with Patrice Lumumba at the helm. Simultaneously, Black musicians like Louis Armstrong and even Nina Simone were being used as propaganda for empire.
This Black History Month, as Black people and all oppressed people face unprecedented attacks, understanding the history that has lead to our collective conditions today is more important than ever.
This screening will take place at the historic Tara Theatre, with a brief talkback after the movie. Buy your tickets at their website at the link in bio!
